About Dr. Vincent Lai:

Dr. Vincent Lai attained his medical degree from the University of Sheffield, England, in 1993. He underwent five years of specialist training in Gastroenterology, followed by an additional five years of sub-specialization in Hepatology at Birmingham, UK—home to one of the largest Liver Transplant Units in Europe. His expertise spans general and transplant hepatology, with a focus on managing acute liver failure and viral hepatitis.

Dr. Lai has received extensive training in diagnosing and treating gastrointestinal and liver conditions. In 2002, he was awarded the prestigious Medical Research Council Clinical Training Fellowship and later obtained a Ph.D. from the University of Birmingham in 2007, researching liver immunity in viral hepatitis.

Professional Experience:

Dr. Lai was accredited by the Specialist Accreditation Board in Gastroenterology (England) in 2006 and served as a Consultant Hepatologist at Derby NHS Foundation Trust Hospital (2006-2008). During this period, he played a crucial role in enhancing viral hepatitis services, securing research grants, and contributing to medical studies.

Upon returning to Singapore in 2008, Dr. Lai has been actively involved in both cadaveric and living donor liver transplantation. His extensive research contributions include publications in viral immunology and acute liver failure.
